Willian Returns to Fulham for Third Spell After Leaving Olympiacos
Brazilian winger signs contract until the end of the season
Fulham have confirmed the signing of Willian on a short-term deal until the end of the season. The 36-year-old winger, who previously played for the club, returns for a third spell and will wear the No. 22 shirt.
Willian became a free agent after departing Greek side Olympiacos in December, allowing him to join Fulham outside the official transfer window deadline, which closed on Monday at 23:00 GMT.
Willian’s Reaction
Speaking to Fulham’s official website, Willian expressed his excitement about returning:
“I think it’s a great opportunity again to play for this club, and I’m fully motivated to get on the pitch and do things well for this club. I’m completely happy, my family’s happy. We are happy to be back, and I think we can do good things until the end of the season, so I can’t wait to start with my teammates and do good things inside the pitch.”
Premier League Experience
Willian is a well-known figure in the Premier League, having previously played for Chelsea, Arsenal, and Fulham. His most successful spell was with Chelsea, where he won two Premier League titles during a seven-year stay from 2013 to 2020, securing five major honours.
After a season with Arsenal in 2020/21, he returned to Brazil with Corinthians before signing for Fulham in September 2022. During his previous stint at Craven Cottage, Willian made 67 appearances in all competitions, scoring 10 goals across two seasons.
Overall, he has played 317 matches in the Premier League, scoring 47 goals, including two Premier League Goal of the Month awards in January 2018 and February 2023.
Upcoming Matches
Willian could make his return for Fulham in the FA Cup this Saturday, as Marco Silva’s side face League One club Wigan Athletic in a fourth-round fixture. In the Premier League, Fulham will next play on Saturday, 15 February, when they host Nottingham Forest at Craven Cottage.
